As a founder of ASU, Buff has had an interesting and eclectic career to date. After early experiments with construction, TV work and professional musicianship, Buff enrolled in a Computer Science degree. Achieving a first, he refocused to become a software engineer, and database designer. The sedentary life didn’t suit so following on from a love of military history he enlisted as a Officer in the Royal Corps of Signals and took part in both Op Telic and Op Herrick. He moved on to consultancy working in the NATO Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, the City in support of Quantitative Analysts and then the MOD.

It was here he decided to open his own company with business partner Chris Anderson. Between them Chris and Buff had a plethora of experience and training which has contributed to the unique brand of management consultancy and modelling that ASU provides. Merging Operational Planning, sound military theory, modern consultancy and modelling techniques. Buff has worked as an Architect with many disciplines and across many organisations. This includes roles in Business, Enterprise, Solution, Data, Integration, Capability, and Operational Architecture. The areas range from Support to Operations, Urgent Operational Requirements, NATO Integration, Technical Assurance, Technical Strategy, Intelligence, Infrastructure, Nuclear, Submarines, Delivery Roadmaps, Project Planning and Architectural Governance and Leadership. Buff is a keen Double Bass Player, singer, motorcyclist, traveler and entrepreneur.
